Comprehensive production, distribution and marketing support for global development of motor vehicles business
A business partner for automobile manufacturers
At the Motor Vehicles Business Unit, we serve as an overseas partner for major Japanese automobile manufacturers, supporting them in their overseas business. Our main partners are Toyota, Daihatsu Motor, Hino Motors and Yamaha Motor. As each of these manufacturers expands their business overseas, we are involved in diverse areas ranging from transportation of production parts and assembly to automobile parts, wholesaling, dealership and retail financing.

Seeking to develop new growth models
We launched our production parts transportation business in 1988 to coincide with Toyota beginning overseas production in Canada. Since then, as Toyota has increased its overseas production, we have been establishing and pursuing production parts transportation business in the United States, Europe, India, China and elsewhere. We have also extended the highly successful retail financing business model created for Yamaha motorcycles in Indonesia to Thailand and India, and we seek to expand this business in Asia. In dealership business, we are operating not only in the United States but also in emerging countries and elsewhere throughout the world through partnerships such as our equity participation in Penske Automotive Group (PAG), formerly named United Auto Group (UAG), of the United States. Furthermore, in September 2006 we acquired an equity stake in Asahi Tec with the intention of entering the automotive parts business.

Providing advanced construction and industrial technologies globally
Through our longstanding partnership with Komatsu, we are expanding our overseas distribution business for Komatsu products, focusing on rental and other finance business, and working to expand our mining and construction equipment business. We intend to support global manufacturing through the export of machine tools. As part of this drive, we jointly acquired U.S. machine tool distributor Ellison Technologies, and started a joint venture business in Russia, in partnership with leading Japanese machine tool manufacturer Mori Seiki.
