Developing and improving the production facilities and social infrastructure needed for our modern lives requires more than huge capital investments. We have a strong track record of successfully completed major projects all over the world. In 2006 we began gas distribution business in eastern Brazil, and in 2007 we consolidated a number of power generation assets in the United Kingdom in partnership with International Power Plc. We have also achieved rapid growth in our railway transportation leasing business over the past 10 years, developing this business in the United States, Europe and Brazil.

We are stepping up our environmental business initiatives in areas including sustainable energy, biofuels and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. Furthermore, we are actively focusing on developing environmentally friendly transportation systems, including through our investment in wind-power generation projects and biomass-related production facilities.
