It has previously been announced by Mitsui & Co., Ltd. ("Mitsui") on 21 October 2008 that the Attorney General's Chamber of Singapore (the prosecuting authority) commenced the prosecution of two employees of Mitsui who were employed by MOAS as of 2006 based on allegations of the Falsification of Accounts.
One of the two employees of Mitsui today held a public trial and was sentenced to 20 weeks in prison for the charge of abetment of falsification of accounts.
Mitsui has taken a strict action against the said employee who got the sentence, in accordance with Mitsui's internal corporate rules.
Furthermore, Mitsui takes the adjudication with the utmost graveness, and will continuously endeavor to enhance further the effectiveness of internal controls over its consolidated group as a whole.
